A business mogul, Chief Michael Okafor-Nwofia has called on the federal government to do everything within the law to tackle the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.

Chief Okafor-Nwofia who is an indigene of Iyiora Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area gave this advice while speaking to newsmen in Awka.

The business mogul said that the insecurity in the country has virtually threatened the means of livelihood of Nigerians in all ramifications, especially farmers who constantly clash with pastoralists.

Chief Okafor-Nwofia who also regretted the high level of inflation in the country noted that without adequate security of lives and property, businesses and other socioeconomic activities would not thrive, and as such, more Nigerians would be sent to the poverty index.

According to him, President Mohammmadu Buhari led federal government must design a pragmatic strategy to lift millions of Nigerians from abject poverty as well as check the rate of external borrowing of the country, which is now a source of worry to most Nigerians because of the huge debt the country has incurred over the past seven years.

He called on Nigerians to use the 2022 general elections to elect leaders that are competent, sound and detribalized in order to safeguard the country from becoming a failed state.
