Nnewi Diocese of the Anglican Communion has called for the compulsory teaching and learning of moral instruction in schools and colleges to improve the moral tone of the society.

 

The Bishop of the Diocese Right Reverend Ndubisi Obi who made the call at the Chapel of Grace Bishop’s Court Nnewi during a press conference to announce the commencement of the third session of the ninth synod of the Diocese to be hosted by Ozubulu Anglican community with the theme “understanding the time.”

 

He said that the call has become necessary in view of series of vices in the society especially among the Youths.

Bishop Obi said that during the synod which commences tomorrow with the dedication of the DONAC oil and gas filing Station built by the Diocese and presentation of the Bishops charge on Saturday tenth September, with the synod general thanksgiving taking place at Saint Mathews Anglican Church Ozubulu venue of the synod on Sunday disclosed that as part of efforts to ensure food security, Nnewi Diocese has injected more resources into DONAC farms located at Ozubulu and Okija respectively for enhanced productivity.

 

Bishop Obi who announced that of the seventeen secondary schools owned by the Diocese a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with a university in Philippines for two of its secondary schools including Bishop Uzodike Memorial Seminary to enable the students have direct link with them in terms of admission.

 

He also disclosed that the Diocesan School of Health Technology, will have many schools under it including School of Pharmacy, School of Medicine, School of Health Technology, which is expected to take off next Month, having being working seriously for their accreditation.

The Nnewi Diocesan Bishop stated that the Special school of the Diocese will be upgraded with mordern facilities including hostel, offices, for enhanced teaching and learning adding that a special fund raising for it will take place on twenty-second October 2022.

 

Bishop Obi who Commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for all his efforts to restore public confidence in governance charged Ndi Anambra to take full ownership of the state.

 

He charged affluent individuals of Anambra State extraction, to bring part of their investments home to support the zeal of Professor Chukwuma Soludo in making Anambra the Dubai of Africa.

Bishop Obi disclosed that within the period under review thirty-eight churches, have been planted with the creation of eleven Archdeaconries and preferment of eighteen Archdeacons for enhanced grassroots evangelism.

 

In their separate remarks shortly after the conference, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the synod Sir Ben Dunu andChairman Publicity Committee Mr Alphonsus Igwebuike, expressed optimism that the diocesan mission and vision will be actualized.

 

The President of the Women’s Ministry in Nnewi Diocese Mrs Ukamaka Obi, Nnewi Diocesan Clerical Synod Secretary Venerable Godfrey Motuanya and some diocesan Clergy were present during the event.
