Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has inaugurated nine roads for construction at Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area.
The nine roads, totalling fourteen point zero three kilometres, account for about thirty-five percent of all the roads in Okpoko.
According to Governor Soludo, the roads, which have at least twenty years warranty, are parts of his efforts towards making Okpoko livable.
He assured that more roads in Okpoko and other parts of Ogbaru Local Government Area will be fixed in due time, including the Ogwuikpele Road and Atani-Ozubulu Road.
Governor Soludo, who noted that three out of the nine roads will be dual carriage with pedestrian cross over and other road infrastructures, called on the people of Okpoko to cultivate the culture of cleanliness for a better Okpoko and Ogbaru Council Area in general.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Works, Mr Ifeanyi Okoma, explained that the nine roads are what the Soludo led administration will be doing in Okpoko in the first one year.
Mr. Okoma assured of effective monitoring to ensure that standard is met.
The contractor handling the projects, Mr. Pedro Chami promised to complete the nine roads with best quality by April next year.
On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman, Ogbaru Local Government Area, Mr. Paschal Aniebonam, who thanked the governor for keeping to his campaign promises, assured the unalloyed support of Ogbaru People.
Cutting of ribbon to mark the official flag-off and handing over of certificate to the contractor, climaxed the event.
