The senatorial flag bearer for Young Progressive Party, YPP, for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Dr Chinedu Umeadi has re-affirmed his readiness to enthrone quality representation in the district if given the opportunity to serve.
Dr Umeadi made this known while addressing journalists during the NUJ 2023 Election Committee interactive session held at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka.
Political Correspondent Stella Igboka reports while defining a good leader as one, who is willing to listen to the needs of his people, a unique quality he said he possesses, the YPP flag bearer commended the NUJ for initiating such platform, designed to give the electorate the opportunity to listen and adjudge their intending leaders in order to make a right choice urging them to make good use of their franchise.
He frowned at the state of the nation which he said calls for concern, hence, his desire to take the mantle and champion the growth of his senatorial district and the state in general through what he referred to as need assessment, in which each community will be developed based on what it needs.
Dr. Umeadi affirmed that the YPP has a strong structure in Anambra Central Senatorial District and is working to ensure full participation of both youth and women in decision making.
Earlier, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, thanked Dr. Chinedu Umeadi for honouring the invitation, noting that any candidate, who visits the union, is assured of better media representation.
He pointed out that the media does not support any candidate, but rather strive to portray a worthy individual, who has the best interest of his constituents at heart.
In a vote of thanks, the state chairman of YPP, Mr Moses Obi, applauded the NUJ for the invitation, noting that the media has the power to influence the society.
He stated that the party is training its agents, who will be on election grounds to help prevent election fraud, adding that they are aggressively sensitizing eligible voters to ensure that they collect their Permanent Voter’s Card, PVCs, to exercise their franchise.
