Manufacturers Association of Nigeria MAN, has urged the Federal Government to make foreign exchange available to local manufacturers to enable them import raw materials and machineries to increase local production of goods and services.

The President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Mr Ahmed Mansur who made the call at the thirty-fourth General Meeting and inauguration of the eleventh Chairman of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi State Branch Lady Ada Chukwudozie in Enugu said as a result of forex shortage manufacturing companies are unable to access the dollar at official rate to import raw materials.

According to Mr Mansur an Engineer, the sector is facing numerous challenges and needed urgent assistance to enable them recover from the failed economy of the country.

In his welcome address, the outgoing Chairman of the Branch, Mr Anietom Igweobi said that the theme of the general meeting is apt as it highlighted the moral challenges in the society which needs urgent intervention and pointed out that the thirty-fourth meeting is important as the branch seeks to transit into a progressive tenure under the leadership of Lady Ada Chukwudozie after a successful two years of the outgoing executive.

The guest speaker and Ace Nollywood actor, Chief Pete Edochie who spoke on the theme of the general meeting, “The Declining Ethical Values and Cultures of the sixties and seventies in today’s current time: causes, effects and solutions” and through a representative, Dr. Emma Nwankpa, said that the economy of the country during the said years was stable with a valuable currency as all the regional groups in Nigeria were interested in the production of economic crops, describing the emergence of oil boom as the bane of the economy.

Notable individuals at the event including the former Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Sir Victor Umeh, Member Representing Ihiala Federal constituency at the National Assembly, Mr Chudi Momah, the Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly Dr. Pascal Agbodike and the Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service Sir Chido Obidiegwu extolled the choice of the association in entrusting its affairs on Lady Ada Chukwudozie as she is an upright and established individual with positive influence of upgrading the branch.

While appreciating her guests, the newly Inaugurated chairman of the branch, Lady Ada expressed satisfaction with the turnout of members and described her emergence as a call to service.

The thirty-fourth General Meeting of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria featured exhibition of different products manufactured within the country such as drugs, engine oil, cables, instant noodles, beverages, clothes among others.

The exhibition provided guests the opportunity to patronize and have a taste of some of the new products from members of the association that are available in the market so as to differentiate them from fake products.
