Peter Obi Support Network, POSN, in collaboration with Medics for Good Governance has organized a one-day-conference for South East and South-South States including local government coordinators.
The conference, which attracted various Labour Party Stakeholders in the Geo- Political Zones, was held at Asaba, Delta State.
The conference has “Developing Grass Root Structure for Effective People Oriented Democracy”, as its theme.
Addressing the gathering, the global coordinator, Peter Obi Support Network, Miss Augusta Nneka, disclosed that the support network, which was inaugurated in May at Abuja, has drawn over six thousand, seven hundred state coordinators and sixty-five thousand volunteer groups nationwide while in the Diaspora, they have supporters from eleven countries, noting that they have been able to organize three summits courtesy of state coordinators, who have devoted their time and money in less than a month.
Miss Nneka said the summit was aimed at ensuring that every citizen is trained to be an electoral agent that can vote and secure his or her vote at every polling unit urging the co-coordinators to embark on door to door training of people at the grassroots on the good news of Peter Obi.
In his welcome address, the POSN Chairman, Organizing Committee, Mazi Ikechukwu Orji said they aimed to strategize on how best to protect and counts their votes and described Peter Obi as the driver, Labour Party as the vehicle while the electorate are the passenger.
In his keynote address, the founder, Center For Value in Leadership and African Democratic Congress, Professor Patrick Utomi, represented by a Labour Party Chieftain in Delta State, Ambassador Tony Ezeagwu, commended the organizers for their commitment saying that they are not working for Peter Obi rather for the masses and called for collective efforts to achieve their goal.
In her speech, the Imo State POSN Coordinator, Ambassador Lilian Ukoha, asked the support network to remain focused, available and trust worthy noting that the network requires people of like minds to achieve their set goal.
In their various endorsement speeches, the Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta, Cross River, Rivers, Edo, Abia, Bayelsa, Anambra and Akwa Ibom States Coordinators, expressed their readiness to change the course of th country by enthroning good governance and living a good legacy for their unborn children.
Highpoint of the conference was entertainment by the Royal Wings dance group.
