A non-governmental group, League of Achina Women Professionals, LAW-P, has distributed learning materials to public primary schools across Achina Community, Aguata Local Government Area.

LAW-P, which comprised of graduates and self-sustained women from Achina Community and those married into the town, tagged the program, “The Way out of Poverty”.

LAW-P, which intervenes in health and education sectors, carries out its activities within the Achina Community only.

The benefiting schools, including Central School Achina, Obinikpa Primary School, Migrant Farmers School, Progressive School and Primary School Eke Achina, had each of its pupil presented with a school bag, exercise books, pencils, pens, and snacks among others.

In her presentation, the LAW-P President, Mrs. Chinwe Mba, identified basic education as every child’s driving force for social, economic and political progress, hence the objective of the group, making sure that every Achina Child acquires quality education.

Mrs. Mba, a lawyer, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his love for education, and appealed to him to send more teachers to public schools to help the pupils compete favourably with contemporaries.

In their separate speeches, the emeritus President of LAW-P, Dr Adaku Aniebue and the President-elect, Mrs. Josephine Ezenachi, encouraged the pupils to take their education seriously and utilize every opportunity available to them.

Welcoming the group, the Headmistresses of the schools visited, including Anastasia Okpalaechere, Florence Ezeatuegwu, Edith Ikeluka and Viviana Kpara, commended them for the gesture and promised to continue to mould the pupils in the best character.

Also speaking, some of the beneficiaries, including little Miss Chialuka Ezeanokete and little Miss Kosisochukwu Ejimnkeonye, appreciated LAW-P for the gesture, describing the gesture as a golden opportunity to further their academic pursuit.
