The Vice President of Ọhaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene has expressed confidence that mass road construction embarked upon by Governor Chukwuma Soludo will accelerate socio-economic development across the state.

 

 

 

 

Speaking in Awka, Chief Okeke Ogene commended the Governor for remaining consistent in fulfilling the promises he made to Ndi Anambra.

 

 

Chief Okeke Ogene said that the strategic road projects would bring huge relief to many communities who have been isolated from the outside world for many years because of lack of access roads as well as enable investors to explore commercial and industrial opportunities in hitherto hard to reach areas.

 

He observed that providing access roads to various communities in the state would raise the value of made in Anambra products because of patronage from different parts of the country and beyond, while farmers would equally have ready markets for their produce.

 

According to Chief Okeke Ogene, proper designing and execution of the road projects with drainage systems linked to discharge points will enable the state tackle the perennial challenges of erosion and flooding as well as enhance environmental sustainability.

 

Meanwhile, an All Progressive Grand Alliance Chieftain, Mr. Emmanuel Uzonwannne has called on the federal and state governments to extend urgent intervention to Ogbaru Local Government Area as flood has sacked many families from their homes.

 

Speaking in Awka, Mr. Uzonwanne lamented that the flood has devastated houses, farmlands and destroyed sources of livelihood of the people worth billions of naira and appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and States Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to send relief materials to the area to cushion the immediate adverse effects of the disaster, noting that more proactive measures including dredging of the River Niger should be taken to end the perennial flooding of the area and extolled Governor Chuwkuma Soludo for the giant steps taken so far to reposition the state.
