Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called for a national solution to tackle flood disaster confronting the country on annual basis.

 

Governor Soludo made the call during his visit to the Internally displaced person’s camps across the affected local government areas in the state .

Among the camps visited were, Central School Odekpe, Ogbaru Council Area, Crowther Memorial Primary School Onitsha, Onitsha North Council Area, Umu Oba Anam Unity Primary School Otuocha and Unity hall Umueri, both in Anambra East Local Government Area.

 

At various camps, Governor Soludo inspected the condition of the camps to ascertain the challenges and interacted with the displaced persons who are in their hundreds.

Governor Soludo said that the state government is making every effort to cushion the effect of the disaster while calling on the federal government to seek a lasting solution to curb the destruction of lives, farmlands, property recorded every year due to flooding.

 

 

 

Assuring that government is making necessary arrangements for their survival, Governor Soludo called on public-spirited individuals to also support at this critical time to alleviate the sufferings of the people.

Governor Soludo further harped on the need for urgent intervention by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA to assist the state government in managing the situation.

 

The Governor encouraged the victims to remain strong assuring of assisting them to live their normal life once the flood is over.

Governor Soludo interacted with the affected persons to discover their immediate challenges which he promised to address as soon as possible.

 

 

 

He also inspected their clinics and promised quality and speedy healthcare services.
