The traditional ruler of Awka Community, Obi Gibson Nwosu has charged officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, to step up efforts in preventing crashes on the highways.

 

Obi Nwosu gave the charge when the Zonal Commander of the FRSC in-charge of Anambra, Delta and Edo States, Mr. Chukwuma Njoku in company of the Sector Commander of the Commission in Anambra State, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi and top officers of the Commission visited him in his palace in Awka.

Obi Nwosu while commending the organization for its roles in reducing road accidents, tasked them to engage more on enlightening the motoring public on inherent dangers of over speeding and careless over takings.

 

He advised them to carry their awareness campaigns to schools, churches, parks and markets to enable more people be acquainted with road safety rules and regulations.

In a remark, the traditional Prime Minister of Awka Community, Chief Benjamin Okoye, who described the function of the FRSC in Nigeria as critical, charged citizens to always respect and support officers and men of the Commission for enhanced service delivery.

 

Earlier, Mr. Njoku said that the essence of the visit was to intimate Obi Nwosu about the inauguration of the 2022 Ember months campaign in Awka capital city.

 

According him, the ember months campaign is part of activities lined up by the FRSC to check road crashes.

In a vote of thanks, Chief Nweze Okoli commended Anambra State Government for providing an enabling environment for paramilitary agencies to perform, and charged the FRSC to make the renewal and issuance of Driver’s License easily accessible.

 

Some representatives of the thirty-three villages in Awka Community, were present during the event.
