The Awka North and South Youth Vanguard has organized a seminar and Award ceremonies.

 

The event held at the Arch Bishop A.K Obiefuna Retreat, Pastoral and Conference Center, Awka, had as its theme “The Role of Youths of Awka North and South in Nation Building”.

 

In his welcome address, thePresident of the Association, Mr Ekene Aguma said the ceremony sought to curtail the social vices prevalent among Awka youths by sensitizing and engaging them on how to be useful to the state and nation at large.

He advised the youths to be attentive and imbibe good culture in order to be responsible citizens and be given the opportunity they desire.

 

On his part the chairman on the occasion Chief Ezennya Okagbue, represented by Mr Kenneth Anazodo, observed that the future of the youth is at stake and urged them to protect it .

He advised them to abide by the law, shun drug abuse and social vices, actively participate in political activities by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards and voting on election day, focus on their career and avoid ‘quick money’ syndrome.

 

In their separate remarks, the Vice President, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Mr Innocent Nduanya and the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State Coordinator, Mr Emeka Obi encouraged the youths to assist the government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo in ensuring security of life and property of the citizenry.

In his speech, the chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council, Dr Emeka Odogwu while applauding the youths desire to take charge of their future, enjoined them to be responsible, disciplined and hardworking to be included in governance.

 

He advised the youths to be humble, respectful and support others in other to contribute to nation-building.

 

Speaking in an interview, some of the awardees including the member representing Awka South Constituency Two, in the Anambra state House of Assembly, Mr Chukwuma Okoye, the Young Progressive Party candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial Distinct in next year’s general election, Dr Chinedu Umeadi represented by Mr Uchenna Umeadi and Mrs Felicia Ekemezie , thanked the organizers for a successful event.

 

Other awardees were Chief Azubuike Ekweozor, the Young Progressive Party candidate for Awka North and South Federal Constituency for the forthcoming general election, Chief Kingsley Uyammadu, the President General of Urum, Chief Aloysius Tabansi among others
