Ede road, School Road and Awalite Street all in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area are now wearing new looks as Anambra state government commences reconstruction work on them.
Edeh road to School road – Awalite street measuring one point four eight kilometers is part of the nine roads measuring fourteen point three kilometers flagged off by Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Okpoko last month.
When ABS arrived at the sites, scrapping of the old asphalt was done on over seventy percent of the road while leveling was ongoing on Ede Road.
Desilting of drainages on both sides of Ede Road was also ongoing with the debris generated being carted away immediately.
Heaps of sands and condemned scrapped asphalt were seen along the three roads visited.
Speaking to the ABS, the President General, Okpoko Town Union, Chief Francis Enemuo expressed happiness that work has commenced soon after Governor Soludo flagged off construction of nine roads in Okpoko.
While appreciating the Governor for being a man of his words, Chief Enemuo regretted that work would have advanced on the roads if not for constant rainfall.
On their parts, a youth leader in the community, Mr. Benedict Akamonu and a resident of the area, Mrs. Ugochi Okwuanasoanya thanked Governor Soludo for listening to their heart beats, noting that the road when completed will ease a lot of stress for them.
