Nineteen newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners have been sworn in by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The reappointed nominees confirmed include Ibrahim Abdullahi Adamawa Obo Effanga, Cross River, Umar Ibrahim, Taraba, Agboke Olaleke, Ogun and Professor Samuel Egwu Kogi.
Those confirmed for fresh appointment are Onyeka Ugochi, Imo, Muhammad Bashir Sokoto, Ayobami, Salami, a Professor Oyo, Zango Abdu, Katsina, Queen Agwu, Ebonyi and Agundu Tersoo, Benue,
Others are Yomere Oritsemlebi, Delta, Yahaya Ibrahim a Professor Kaduna, Nura Ali, Kano, Agu Uchenna, Enugu, Ahmed Garki Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Hudu Yunusa, Bauchi, Uzochukwu Chijioke, a Professor Anambra and Mohammed Nura, Yobe.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, charged them to be transparent and courageous in discharging their responsibilities.
He reminded them that even though the task is difficult, their loyalty should be to Nigeria and Nigerians by ensuring that votes determine winners in the 2023 general election.
According to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission the Commission has over the years worked tirelessly to reform the electoral process and introduced series of innovations that are generally acknowledged to have improved the electoral process.
In an interview with the ABS, the new Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Queen Elizabeth Agwu, promised to give Ndi Anambra a transparent Election as she is coming with positive impact while her Edo State counterpart, Obo Effanga, who responded on behalf of others promised that they will not be influenced by self-interest.
