Governor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration is embarking on massive re-construction of roads across the

 

State to open up the hinterlands and improve the economic growth of Anambra State.

 

Speaking at the Dr Alex Ekwueme square in Awka during the ninth edition of the Anglican prayer rally of Anambra State Governor Soludo maintained that already his administration has awarded contract for the re-construction of over two hundred kilometers of road saying that his government is committed to giving Ndi Anambra quality roads that will stand the test of time.

Correspondent Onyinye Agubaeze was there and reports that the Governor who commended the nine Anglican Dioceses in the Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger for organizing the prayer rally called for robust ecumenism among all religious denominations in Anambra State to restore the glory of Anambra as a Christian State.

 

The Governor called on parents and churches to always ask questions about the source of wealth of some individuals instead of glorifying them saying that by doing so, the high-rate of kidnappings and other crimes will be reduced drastically in the society.

The Governor re-assured the people of Anambra State of effective security of life and property and called on Ndi Anambra who are interested in offering services to the State through his administration to come forward stressing the need for Ndi Anambra to take full ownership of the State.

 

Governor Soludo advised the people to be environment friendly, warning them against indiscriminate dumping of refuse and blocking of flood channels which he noted defaces the environment and causes erosion.

Earlier in a sermon the Archbishop Ecclesiastical province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim who maintained that Christianity is not a race of comfort called on Christians to always watch and pray in view of the challenges facing the Nigerian-Nation.

 

Most Reverend Ibezim cautioned both the Clergy and laity against what he described as spiritual sleep said that as Children of God, they need to be spiritually active in order to defeat the devil and its cohorts

He called for the immediate release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Mr Nnamdi Kanu and advised the federal government to always map out policies that will improve the living standards of the people.

 

Most Reverend Ibezim commended the Anambra State government and public-spirited individuals for their support to victims of flood disaster in Anambra State and described the people of Ogbaru, Mbamili and Niger West Dioceses who were affected by the flood but despite that, participated fully in this year’s Anglican prayer rally as heroes of faith.

In a vote of thanks, the Chairman of the planning committee of the prayer rally Bishop Ndubusi Obi of Nnewi Diocese, who described the theme of the event watch and pray as apt stressed the need for the faithful to have absolutely faith and trust in God, reminding them of the need to always love one another.

 

The service which was conducted by Venerable David Obiagbaoso featured special prayer for Governor Soludo and his Deputy Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim.

Chief of staff to the Governor Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Deputy Chief of Staff and State Director of Protocol Mr Chinedu Nwoye, Anambra State Head of Service Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, the Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service Sir Chido Obidiegwu and Special Adviser to the Governor on Entertainment, Leisure and Tourism, Mr Bob-manuel Udokwu, among others attended the prayer rally.
