Officials of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority have commenced what it tagged “Operation Clean and Green Initiative” within the capital territory.
Speaking during the exercise, the Managing Director of the agency, Mr. Ossy Onuko who assured that the activity is going to be sustained, said that the exercise is to assist the relevant authorities saddled with the task of keeping Anambra state clean and green to ensure that the Awka Capital Territory is clean and have the ambience of a capital city.
Mr. Onuko reiterated his decision to give the Capital Territory the aesthetic look it deserves in order to be developed into a metropolitan city.
According to the ACTDA boss, the Agency want to give Awka the facelift that will make it compete favourably with any other capital city within Nigeria.
Mr. Onuko revealed that they have a five-year master plan of making the Awka Capital Territory, a first-choice investment destination for any investor in the South East and beyond.
He called on the residents of the city, traders and shop owners to ensure prompt and proper desilting of drains in front of their houses and business premises in order to make roads within the Awka Capital Territory to last longer.
During the exercise, officials of the agency were seen cutting overgrown grasses, as well as desilting of drainages in some locations along Enugu-Onitsha express road, streets, markets among numerous others.
