An illustrious son of Owerre-Ezukala community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State who based in Atlanta Georgia, United States of America, Chief Chimezie Ononye has, through his education and charitable organization known as, Chimezie Ononye Foundation, distributed various empowerment materials, including cheques for scholarship and personal care products to secondary schools in Owerre-Ezukala and Isulo, both in Orumba South Council Area

 

At Basden Memorial Special Education Centre, Isulo, items provided for the blind, deaf and dumb students in the school were beverages, cartons of noodles and other sanitary items, while at Community Secondary School Owerre-Ezukala, draft cheques for scholarship to twelve students of the school, and eight others from Union Secondary School Owerre-Ezukala for first, second and third terms 2022/2023 academic year were presented to the Vice Principal of Community Secondary School Owerre-Ezukala, Mrs Agatha Agba, who represented the Principal, Mrs Obianuju Izuegbunam, and Vice Principal, General Duties of Union Secondary School Owerre-Ezukala, Mrs Ngozi Nwankwo.

Thanking the Chimezie Ononye Foundation for the items provided to the school, the Principal of Basden Memorial Special Education Centre, Isulo, Mrs Chinwe Chigozie, and Administrative Secretary of the school, Mrs Ebere Ichoku said that electricity for supplying of water, and making the school environment friendly to the blind, deaf and dumb students are still a major challenge to the centre.

 

They however thanked the state government for providing other needs of the students at the centre, such as school fees and feeding, after which a student at the centre, Master Jude Obi prayed for members of the foundation.

A beneficiary of the scholarship programme, Miss Kosi Ezenwagbu promised to show the benefactor an appreciation through hard work and brilliant academic performances, while a father to another beneficiary, Deacon Chukwudi Ezechi, on behalf of others, thanked the Chimezie Ononye Foundation for relieving parents of burden of training their wards in schools.

The President of Old Boys Association of Boys Secondary School, now Community Secondary School Owerre-Ezukala, Chief Okey Ajaebo, urged the schools Principals and teachers to continue to guide the students on the right path.

An Educationist, Chief Jude Odoemene, who thanked all that support access to education, urged students to change their attitude towards learning and embrace education for personal development

 

The President-general of Owerre-Ezukala community, Sir Anayo Emejue, and the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Thomas Ogbonnaya, who thanked the benefactor for investing in human beings, reminded the students that now is the time for them to shape their future, advising them not to allow their environment to limit them.

A board member and Legal Adviser of the Chimezie Ononye Foundation, Barr. Eddy Ukoha said that the non-governmental and political organisation is committed to providing support to the downtrodden in the society through such gestures and called for more support to the less privileged in the society.
