As the 2023 general elections draw near, the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and other relevant bodies to embark on an aggressive sensitization of voters to take active part during elections has been stressed.

Speaking to ABS in Awka, the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Ben Emeka, decried the lackadaisical attitude of most eligible voters in participating in elections, adding that more sensitization and voter education are needed to check the trend.

Correspondent Blessing Uchendu reports that Igwe Emeka also noted that the coming general elections offer another opportunity for Nigerians to take ownership of the country by electing credible leaders capable of tackling the numerous challenges facing the country and changing the national narrative.

The community leader charged candidates of various political parties to embark on issue-bases campaigns rather than engaging in name-calling and mudslinging.

He further reminded eligible voters of the need to safeguard their permanent voter’s card which he said is the only tool they can use to enthrone God-fearing and credible leaders.
