The Senate Committee on Education has commenced a public hearing for a bill to back up the establishment of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration in Ondo, Ondo State.
The Institute was established thirty years ago by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and International Institute for Educational Planning as a Staff College for Planners and Managers in the Nation education sector and West African sub-region without a legal backing.
Declaring the public hearing open, the President of the Senate Dr Ahmed Lawan, described it as an opportunity for the committee to ensure that the institute is standardized for professional possibility, promising that all necessary support will be provided for the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, to ensure the smooth running of the institute.
The chairman of the Senate Committee on Education Basic and Secondary, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, in his welcome address, said the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration establishment Bill 2022 seeks to give legal backing to the already functioning institution.
Senator Gaidam explained that the institute was established in 1992 with a three-fold mandate which was intended to move forward the professionalization of educational planning and administration in the country.
