As part of her corporate social responsibilities aimed at extending succor, love, and care to people with special needs, the Obijackson Foundation, Okija, has distributed relief materials to flood displaced persons in Anambra State.
The materials, which runs into millions of naira, are to help the victims cushion the effects of the disaster which took always all they had laboured for.
The team from the foundation visited two camps in Ogbaru, Unity Primary School Camp, Umuoba Anam and Father Joseph Memorial Camp, Aguleri, where they donated bags of rice, beans, loaves of bread, cartoons of medicated soap, toiletries, beddings and many others.
Obijackson Foundation Okija, powered by Dr. Ernest Obiejesi, is a nongovernmental organization set up to intervene in many areas of the society, and has Nutritional Support Programme department that helps in touching the lives of the downtrodden, destitute, the poor and the needy, and has for years reached out to people of different age and race through these programmes.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the presentation of the items, the Co-ordinator, Ministries of the foundation, Mr Chukwudi Enukoha, said their General Manager, Dr Obiejesi, was disheartened by the pathetic condition of the victims of the flood and decided to help them alleviate their plights.
Mr Enukoha said the items were to help the victims have something to fall back on as they return to their homes.
The Spiritual Director of the foundation, Reverend Father Lenard Ayogu, maintained that their mission is in line with that of Jesus Christ who teaches his followers to care for the poor and the needy.
Reverend Father Ayogu noted that with what he saw on ground, the flood displaced persons really need support and assistance, and called on more public-spirited individuals to come to the aid of the victims.
While expressing their gratitude to Obijackson Foundation Okija, for coming to their aid, Commandants of the camps visited, Chief Victor Nmeoba and Mr. Ben Nwasike, said that it has been months of horror for them; as they lived only by the grace of God.
