Wife of the Governor of Anambra State Mrs Nonye Soludo has called for extensive coverage of the ongoing measles vaccination exercise across the State.

Mrs Soludo who made the call in Awka said that it is important to make the exercise a programme that will touch all corners of the designated communities, especially areas with high population of women and children .

Assessing the programme’s report, Mrs Soludo commended the Anambra State Ministry of Health and the global health partners for their commitment to improving the health system in the State.

The governor’s wife, however, said that it is important for the vaccination exercise to have wider reach across the target areas, and to ensure that women and children, especially those living in different holding camps are captured in the programme.

On the preparations for the Rotavirus vaccination which will soon take off in Anambra State, Mrs Soludo said the exercise will go a long way in eliminating diarrhea and related illnesses among Anambra children.

She urged mothers and caregivers to help achieve the goals of the programme by turning up and getting their children and wards vaccinated.

Anambra State Government in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund and World Health Organization recently inaugurated the second phase of measles vaccination for four local government areas severely hit by the recent flood disaster.

The one-week integrated exercise, which includes COVID-19 vaccination and birth registration, commenced on November fifteenth and will end on the twenty-third, across Ayamelum, Anambra East and West, Awka North and Ogbaru Local Government Areas.
