The Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Mr Felix Ikechi says Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration will properly resettle Ndi Anambra that were affected by the recent flood menace in the state.
Mr. Ikechi who made this assertion while speaking to the ABS in Awka, commended the Soludo administration for its prompt response to the needs of the flood displaced persons across the four local government areas of Anambra East and West, Ayamelum, Ogbaru and other communities in the state.
The Anambra West Mayor who also thanked the church, various organizations, affluent individuals and some people in the diaspora who helped in giving succour to those affected by the deluge, urged the Federal Government to do everything within its reach to bring a permanent solution to the incessant flood menace.
According to Mr. Ikechi, only building of colkdams, as well as the dredging of the river Niger, river Omambala and other shallow rivers across the country, would be enough to solve the ugly trend that has caused most Nigerians an untold hardship, as well as some paying the supreme prize due to the flood.
He commended the Anambra state Emergency Management Agency for their doggedness in bringing relief materials to those affected by the disaster, and appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to bring post flood relief materials to the people of Anambra state.
The Anambra West Local Government boss assured Ndi Anambra West who were one of the major hits by the flood, that they will have a course to rejoice soonest, as the Anambra state government is planning a post flood assistance for them and other flood affected council areas in Anambra state.
