Catholic Faithful across the globe yesterday, commemorated the Solemnity of Christ the King, also known as Corpus Christi.

The day marks the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem where he cleansed the temple and showed his supremacy over all kings.

In a homily to celebrate the day at Saint Aloysius of Gonzaga, Ukwulu, a visiting priest, Reverend Father Cornelius Okoye said that they are showing Christ as an example for those in authorities to emulate and render services as Christ did so as to better the life of people.

Reverend Father Okoye, who noted that Christ paid huge price with His blood on the cross of Calvary to salvage mankind, charged Christians to obey and serve Him as their king and recognize Him alone without compromising their faith.

He noted that Christ during His entry into Jerusalem, helped the poor and healed the sick unlike what is obtainable in the present-day Christianity where people extort and engage in all manner of evil act in the name of Christ.

Speaking shortly after the mass, a parishioner, Professor Fidelis Okafor described the Solemnity of Christ the king as universal feast of the church and noting that anyone, who believes in the kingship of Christ is duty bound to respect, honour and keep His precept and never give His glory to anyone.

At Saint Lawrence Church Mbaukwu, the Archdeacon, Mbaukwu Archdeaconry, Venerable David Ezeobi, encouraged Christians to have unshakable faith in God and abide by his will.

Venerable Ezeobi, who referenced the Biblical book of Philippians, Chapter four verse thirteen, noted that it is only faith in Christ that can help Christians surmount the challenges in today’s society.

He advised the parishioners to allow the will of God to prevail in their lives, be focused and make Christ their watch word.

There was procession across catholic parishes to commemorate Christ the king.
