Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, says that women are very vital to the growth of any society.

The Deputy governor made the remark during the maiden edition of Anambra Sate International Women Conference, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka.

The event, organized by the National Female Students Association of Nigeria in collaboration with Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, has “Women as Global Change Agents” as its theme.

Dr. Ibezim, who described women as political and moral change agents, affirmed that there are great women of integrity, who made significant impact on the world, and advised the younger generation to look up to them as role models.

While noting that there is a paradigm shift in university education, as it is no longer just a pathway to becoming what one studied, but also a step that exposes one to a variety of life opportunities, Dr. Ibezim also advised them to vote wisely in the 2023 General Elections for a better Nigeria as the change agents they are.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Transport, Barrister Patricia Igwebuike, stated that the journey of a woman is challenging, and as such, women must be deliberate in order to reach greater heights.

Barrister Igwebuike urged women to invest in themselves by acquiring skills and knowledge in order to be real change agents.

A captain of industry, Mrs. Diana Ndigwe, inclusivity advocate, Mrs. Eucharia Onyemobi, and a philanthropist, Chief Emeka Igwe, who were among the speakers at the event, advocated women as global change agents.

For the conveners, including Miss Augusta Ukoha and Dr. Ucheaku Soludo, it is their desire to make the conference an annual event as they thanked everyone that attended the event.
