Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has called on state residents to imbibe fire safety measures to reduce incessant fire incidents and prevent further loss of life and properties.
Deputy Governor Ibezim made the call when he on behalf of the state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, visited scenes of fire incident at Ogbo Osisi, Bridge Head Onitsha, and Umudioka, Obunese Village Awka respectively, where fire gutted goods and properties worth thousands of naira.
Tthe Deputy Governor, who regretted the rate at which fire incidents occur in the state presently especially at Onitsha, reminded the people the need to avoid acts that can lead to fire outbreak.
He assured that the state government will do its best in assisting the victims of the incidents.
The victims expressed happiness on the visit of the Deputy Governor and his entourage, and thanked him for identifying with them.
