The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly Right Honourable Uche Okafor says the rapid development of Anambra State will remain top priority of the House.

 

Right Honourable Okafor gave the assurance during a special mass held for members and staff of Anambra State House of Assembly at the legislative complex in Awka.

It was a moment of joy to the legislators and staff of the institution as they danced and offered thanks to God for his goodness upon them this year.

 

In his speech, Right Honourable Okafor who expressed gratitude to God for giving them the grace to perform their legislative duties successfully which aided accelerated development of Anambra State.

The Speaker noted that this year has been very challenging to the House as they lost two of their members, late Honourable Okechukwu Okoye and late Dr. Nnamdi Okafor and held series of valedictory sessions for their departed colleagues and urged Ndi Anambra to keep praying for the state legislature.

 

He assured that members of Anambra State House of Assembly will continue to improve the living condition of their constituents through various empowerment programmes and support Governor Chukwuma Soludo through enactment of quality laws that will enable him realize his vision for the state.

Earlier in a homily, the catholic priest who presided over the Mass, Reverend Father Tobias Osigwe called on public office holders to always work for the benefit of the people as they will be judged by their performances after they left office.

 

Reverend Father Osigwe enjoined members of Anambra State House of Assembly to always discharge their constitutional responsibilities without fear or favour in the interest of the state.

 

The mass featured prayers for the lawmakers, staff of Anambra State House of Assembly, Anambra State and Nigeria.
