The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has charged those in leadership positions to have a rethink on the broken national unity, apparent injustice and inequality, bloodshed, loss of lives and property of Nigerian citizens.
He gave the charge while delivering his Christmas message in Awka.
Most Reverend Ibezim maintained that Nigerians are suffering at present because of insecurity, incessant kidnapping and insurgency, agitations, politics of bitterness and rancor, the menace of Boko Haram and Herdsmen and urged the government to rise to its responsibilities .
He enjoined Christians to celebrate the Christmas with caution and deep reflection over their national and ecclesiastical life, shunning evil and wickedness.
Most Reverend Ibezim explained that the mystery and remarkable aspect of Christmas is the fact that not only Christians engage and celebrate the season, adding that Christmas is a divine global agenda.
He explained that Christmas is a season of good news, good tidings, peace, favourable greetings, testimony, and witnessing of the goodness of God through Jesus Christ.
Explaining the essence of the season Archbishop Ibezim said it is a period Christians all over the world rejoice and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, engage in worship to God, share gifts and render welfare service to the less privileged.
