Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation has distributed over seven thousand bags of Rice to families from the four quarters of Oraifite Community and environs for Christmas celebration.
The annual event, which took place at Umueshi Civic Centre, attracted representatives of various social institutions in Anambra State, all the churches and schools in Oraifite Community and other groups, that benefitted from the Christmas Largesse.
In a brief devotion, the Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Right Reverend Ndubuisi Obi, represented by Venerable Emma Nnodi, described Christmas as a period of celebration andputting smile on the faces of people, while thanking God for Sir Emeka Okwuosa, whose philanthropic gesture has uplifted lives, called on other wealthy persons to emulate him as he prayed for its sustenance.
In an address, the executive Director, Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, Sir Azuka Okwuosa, said the annual Christmas Rice distribution is one of the programmes of the foundation to mark the end of the year and recalled their activities in health, education, infrastructural development among others.
Sir Azuka disclosed that four cows was added to this year’s Christmas Rice distribution to be shared to the four quarters of Oraifite Community, urging the people to look inwards and find out what they can do for themselves for the interest of all.
The Transition Committee chairman, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Mr. Chimezie Obi, who described Sir Emeka as a blessing to humanity and a role model, spoke against the get rich quick syndrome prevalent among present day youths stressing that there is dignity in labour while the chairman on the occasion, Chief Chike Obidigbo, remarked that Christmas is all about sharing and urged the beneficiaries to always pray for the donor.
While the Coordinator of the foundation, Professor Johnson Anene, threw more light on the annual event, representatives of women from the four quarters including Mrs. Theresa Onuigbo, Elizabeth Emecheta and Esther Ikediugwu expressed joy and gratitude to the donor and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
