Igboukwu Community in Aguata Local Government Area, has celebrated its 2022 maiden cultural day.

 

the event held at Igboukwu Central School was aimed at refining, developing and marketing Igboukwu culture to the outside world. .

The occassion organized by Igboukwu Development Union, featured cultural displays as different masquerades, including , Ajofia Igboukwu, and Ofoigbo while Igboukwu Development Union, women’s wing and Umuada Igboukwu also entertained the audience with cultural dances.

 

In his speech, the Regent of the community, Chief Mike Nduka and Palace Secretary, Chief Fabian Okeke said the celebration availed them the opportunity to showcase their culture to the world, affirming that as Igboukwu known to be the origin of Ndi Igbo, it is in better position to promoting the Igbo culture and heritage, urging the members of the community to keep pushing the town to global maps with their culture.

The Chairman on the occassion, Chief Finbarrs Ofodum who called for the programmes sustenance, said culture defines the people, their origin and lifestyle.

 

President General of the community, Sir Christian Ike, President, Igboukwu Development Union, women’s wing, Mrs Ijeoma Okeke and Chair lady Adaigboukwu, Mrs. Theresa Ugochukwu assured to keep promoting and preserving their cultural heritage for their children.

For the All Progressives Grand Alliance Flag Bearer for Aguata Federal Constitutency Engineer Dominic Okafor, the President General, Nzenozo Igboukwu, Nze Umeokpalaugo Ezeakonobi, described culture as people’s way of life and called for improvement in subsequent celebrations .

On their parts, the Chairman, Culture and Tourism Committee Igboukwu, Dr. Peter Okafor and Sub- Committee Chairman of the occassion, Chief Ezechukwudebelu Umewenike, explained on how different organs of the community would take part in the promotion of Igboukwu culture, stressing the need for them to restore values of love and peace as well as eliminating wickedness, robbery, stealing and other vices
