The All-Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has appointed Governor Chukwuma Soludo as its National Leader, a position formerly occupied by the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano.
The party, which is the third largest political party in Nigeria today, carried out the exercise during its National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting held in Awka, Anambra State Capital.
The appointment took effect after a motion to appoint Governor Soludo the National Leader of the party by the National Organizing Secretary of APGA, Mr. Ifeanyi Mbaeri, and seconded by Salihu Abubakar Sadiq, Bauchi State APGA Chairman and supported through a voice vote by all the NEC members.
The unanimous decision was followed with the presentation of a certificate of appointment by the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye, who commended Governor Soludo’s leadership qualities noting that APGA as a party will be pleased to tap into his wealth of experience, wisdom, intellectual and moral capacity.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo, who promised greater commitment towards making APGA more relevant in the Nigeria’s political circle, also assured to work in collaboration with all the members of the party to achieve greater heights.
Governor Soludo said that APGA as a party of the progressives, will in the future offer Nigeria a progressive leadership because it mainstreams competence, unity and progress.
He paid glowing tribute to those, who have been in the position before him including the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and his predecessor, Chief Obiano.
The NEC meeting was well attended by members from across the country.
