The FC Ogbalu’s Annual Memorial Lecture will hold on Tuesday next week in Awka.

Members of the late Chief F. C Ogbalu Annual Memorial Lecture Planing Committee disclosed this when they visited the Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service Mr Chido Obidiegwu and his management team in Awka.

The team led by the Dean, Faculty of Arts of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Greg Obiamalu said the lecture series is scheduled to hold at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University University Auditorium.

 

Professor Obiamalu who described the late Chief Ogbalu as a icon of many achievements , noted that the man was a prominent son of Igbo extraction who spent his life time and money in working assiduously to promote and protect the core Igbo cultural values.

According to him, the impact of the life and time of Late Chief Ogbalu was so strong that the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Community decided to immortalize his legacy by holding annual memorial lectures in honour of his great struggle and contributions in promoting Igbo language and other core values in the society.

 

He announced the title of this years lecture, “Nchekwa Na Akunuba Nigeria – Ala Igbo Dika Ihe Nere Anya!” was carved out of the menace of insecurity that has engulfed the country especially the southeastern region and best approach to bring lasting peace and protection of life and property of the people

In their separate remarks, Dr. Gladys Udechukwu and Professor George Onwudiwe thanked the MD and the management for the warm welcome and promise to support the programme.

They also pray for God’s blessings on the MD and his staffs and the grace to finish strong while soliciting for air time to teach and promote Igbo programmes in the station.

Responding , the MD ABS, Sir. Chido said FC Ogbalu was a household name, nitimhis personality and profile have contributed immensely in promoting the Igbo cultural value.

 

Sir. Chido observed that the lecture is necessary to encourage and educate young Igbo children to imbibe Igbo cultural values.

and advised the committee to work more on sensitizing the people on the importance of Igbo language by visiting the station frequently to engage on such programmes.

Some other members of the delegation included; Dr. Christian Ogwudile, Dr. Charles Nneke and Dr. Arinze Agabusi.
