The Anambra State Ministry of Health has continued inspection of all the private hospitals operating in the state, with a visit to hospitals in Onitsha.

 

The team led by Head, Medical Services Department, State Ministry of Health, Dr Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu, inspected some hospitals at New Cemetery Road, MCC, Onitsha and observed that some hospitals do not have befitting facilities, some were not functional and others were not registered, while some have befitting facilities and are registered with the government.

 

The hospitals visited include Rose Boom Hospital owned by Korean nationals and deals on alternative medicines, operates without license, not registered with Anambra state government, and has no sign board.

 

The team also visited Neo Life-Era Specialist Apex Hospital, and Gozie Specialist Hospital which were respectively noticed to be well equipped with functional facilities, and properly registered with the state government.

 

Speaking to ABS shortly after the inspections, Dr Chukwulobelu said the essence of the exercise was to assess the health facilities of all the private hospitals operating in the state to ensure that they are functional as well as identify those that operate without licenses and unregistered with the government.

 

Dr Chukwulobelu stressed the need for quality healthcare services in hospitals across the state, adding that the services of qualified doctors and nurses to people are paramount for the safety of lives, as according him good health of the Ndi Anambra is one of the top priorities of Governor Soludo led administration.

 

The group later permanently sealed off hospitals that operate illegally and warned them not to risk people’s lives for money.

 

Appreciating the team, the Chief Medical Director, Gozie Specialist Hospital, Dr Nduka Ochuba commended the state government for embarking on such crucial exercise which he said would help eradicate quackery in the state, and promised to abide by the state government’s directive.
