The ongoing inspection of private hospitals in the state has been described as very critical, as the current administration is determined to give Ndi Anambra efficient and affordable healthcare system free from quackery and unwholesome practices.

The Head of Medical Services, Anambra State Ministry of Health, Dr Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu, stated this shortly after the inspection team visited private health facilities in Nnewi.

hospitals visited include Chimex Specialist Hospital and Maternity, Nnewichi, Nnewi and First MAF Hospital, Nnewichi, Nnewi.

Dr. Chukwulobelu explained that through investigation, the ministry found out that there were a lot of gaps in the system, a reason the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, mandated the inspection team to move across the state to identify hospitals that are operating below standards, as well as medical facilities sited on unhygienic environments.

He said that they do not give the medical facilities notice of their visits in order to meet them in the way and manner they are operating and assured that they would continue the exercise until all the medical facilities in the state are sanitized.

Dr. Chukwulobelu also pointed out that government-owned medical facilities are not left out as the Commissioner for Health and his team have been monitoring their services since he assumed office which has led to massive improvement.

Welcoming the team, the owner of Chimex Specialist Hospital and Maternity, Nnewichi, Dr Obi Nwosu represented by the Consultant Family Physician of the hospital, Dr Amaka Obi-Nwosu,who explained to the team some of their challenges, promised that they will continue to do their best to improve service delivery to the patients.
