Team Clean, Green and Healthy Anambra, led by the state Commissioner for Environment, Engineer Felix Odimegwu, has inspected drainages in some parts of Awka, the Anambra State capital.

 

The drainages were inspected to check their cleanliness, as well as to ensure that water can easily flow through them; as the rainy season approaches.

 

Areas visited include Esther Obiakor and Book Foundation roads, all within Agu Awka axis.

 

In his remark, Commissioner Odimegwu, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Ngozi Iwouno, said that the inspection of the drainages was in line with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to build a livable Anambra free from flooding, other natural and man-made disasters.

 

Commissioner Odimegwu also appealed to residents of the state, presidents general, market leaders, religious leaders and other stakeholders to pass the message of operation open all drainages for clean, green and healthy Anambra down to their various areas in order to prevent flooding during the rainy season.
