Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, was agog with Valentine celebration as the staff marked the birthday of one of their own, Prince Emeka Kalu.

 

 

The valentine cum birthday bash took place at the premises of the ABS corporate headquarters, Awka

 

 

it was a gathering of like minds who put together a surprise package for the celebrant as staff of ABS gathered to thanked God for the gift of a new year to one of their own, Prince Emeka Kalu, popularly called Magic Fingers.

 

Prince Emeka is the Vice President, Radio Television And Theatre Arts Workers ,Union, RATTAWU.

 

Speakers at the ceremony poured encomiums on the celebrant for being an outstanding personality in the media industry.

 

In his speech at the event, the Managing Director of the ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu described Prince Emeka as an astute professional who does his Job with diligence and credibility, a bossom friend and a loyalist who stands by his friends no matter the situation.

 

Sir Chido urged all staff of the establishment to strive to write their names on the marble, just as the celebrant so that they will have something they will be remembered for .

 

In his remarks, the Director News And Current Affairs Department of the ABS, Mr Gab Okpalaeze who organized the birthday bash, said that Prince Emeka is a good unionist, one who fights for the rights of others and gives succour to the less privileged, a jolly good fellow and a trusted friend.

 

In their separate speeches, the Head of ABS Television Mrs Ify Unachukwu, the Deputy Director Planning and Research of the ABS, Mrs Kene Onwualu, as well as an On Air Personality, Mr Roy Ekwunife, noted that the celebrant is a trusted colleague who would always lighten the mood of everyone around him , adding that the event has brought back the old ABS where the staff see one another as partner in progress.

 

Also speaking, the Chairman , Information Chapel of the NUJ Comrade, Stanley Onunkwo, the Chairman of RATTAWU, NTA Onitsha chapter , Comrade Daniel Ukpai, another On Air Personality in ABS , Comrade Obiajulu Sokei, described the celebrant as a dogged fighter , an ally and one who stands by the truth.

Responding, the celebrant , Prince Emeka expressed appreciation to the planners of the event for the honour done him, even as he said that all that were said about him would spurred him to do more for the good of mankind.

 

In a vote of thanks, an Editor in the News Department of the ABS, Comrade Chibuzo Okoye, commended everyone who gathered to rejoice with the celebrant, stressing the need for unity among the staff
