Ndi Anambra have been urged to come out en masse to cast their votes, as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has put all machines in motion to ensure free, fair and credible elections.

 

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Anambra State, Dr Queen-Elizabeth Agwu, gave the assurance during a press briefing at INEC headquarters in Awka.

She said that it is the duty of every electorate to exercise his or her civic responsibility by going to the polls to vote candidates of their choice for the good of the country.

 

According to the Anambra REC, INEC has upgraded the BVAs machine so much that it cannot disappoint, adding that the machines were structured in such a way that it cannot accept information before or after voting time.

She noted that Anambra is blessed with prominent people , which she said was part of the reasons they are happy to identify with Ndi Anambra as very important state in Nigeria.

 

The Anambra REC made it clear that there are electoral laws that should respected, and that there is provision to punish anyone who goes contrary to the laws, calling for the cooperation of Ndi Anambra to enable INEC have a successful outing.

She said that INEC has distributed non-sensitive materials, including ballot boxes, bags, inks, pads and cubicles, and will move the non-sensitive materials as early as possible for use by over two point four million voters in Anambra.

 

On the PVCs found in a bush at Nnewi and Nnobi, the REC assured that they will do everything possible to unravel issues surrounding the development, and urged Ndi Anambra to be calm and should not be distracted.
