The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Senator Victor Umeh of Labour Party winner of the Anambra Central Senatorial District election conducted last Saturday.
Announcing the result at INEC office for Anambra Central Senatorial District at Amawbia, the Returning Officer, Professor Chuka Enuka, said Senator Umeh polled one hundred and three thousand, six hundred and eight votes to defeat other candidates.
Professor Enuka said Honourable Dozie Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, polled sixty nine thousand, seven hundred and two votes to come second, while Senator Uche Ekwunife of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, came third with forty nine thousand, five hundred and thirty two votes.
He declared Senator Umeh winner of the election because he scored the highest number of votes cast in the exercise and fulfilled all the requirements of the law.
The result sheet was signed by agents of all the political parties that participated in the election.
