The Presidential candidate of Labour party, Mr. Peter Obi, has been declared winner of the presidential election conducted in Anambra last Saturday.
Mr. Obi polled five hundred and eighty-four thousand, six hundred and twenty-one votes, out of the six hundred and sixty-four thousand, six hundred and twelve votes cast.
People’s Democratic Party, PDP, came second with a total of nine thousand and thirty-six votes.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, came third with a total of seven thousand, three hundred and eighty-eight votes, while the All Progressives Congress, APC, came fourth with a total of five thousand, one hundred and eleven votes.
Declaring the result, the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Professor Nnenna Oti, said having scored the highest number of votes and satisfied all the requirements of the law, Mr. Obi is returned as the winner of the Presidential election held in Anambra.
speaking at the Anambra collation center, Awka, the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu, commended Ndi Anambra for the support they gave to the commission, which she said enabled them have a successful election.
