As the world celebrates this year’s International Women’s Day, women have been charged to promote principles of equity and good conscience to build progressive society.
The state chairperson Women Wing of International Christian Association of Nigeria, WOWICAN, Barrister Mrs Mercy Ndubisi gave the charge while addressing a cross-section of women who have gathered at Assemblies of God Church Onitsha to celebrate this year’s event.
Staff reporter Emengini Osadebe who covered the event reports that this year’s theme of celebration is “Digital Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.
Barrister Mrs Ndubisi who pointed out that women should be given equal opportunity as men to attain good and quality education, regretted that women are not giving their rightful position in the society in the guise that they are not qualified.
She challenged the women to be determined and acquire knowledge especially at this digital Technology Innovation era, urging every woman to teach one another for better opportunities.
On her part the state coordinator Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Reverend Mrs Blessing Ezedebego challenged women to have self-confidence as their educational background should not be a barrier for them to succeed calling for Humility and their ability to learn on daily basis.
The Resource person at the event, Professor Patricia Oluchukwu who exposed women on the theme “Digital Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality called for equal access to education, new technology management, positions and entrepreneurship among all genders while an ICT expert Mrs Ngozi Asika exposed the women on the topic “Opportunities in the Digital Terrain”.
High point of the event where demonstration by the women on the theme “Embrace Equity” led by the State Chair Person of WOWICAN Barrister Mrs Ndubisi, while testimony by the Deputy State Co-ordinator Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Mummy Phoebe Ezeonodo and Songs by the women added colour to the event.
