Anglican women across the globe are today, commemorating Mothering Sunday.

The day, set aside to remind mothers of their roles in nation, home and church building as well to show them love for their commitment and love in nurturing, molding and raising future generation, also availed them the opportunity to evaluate themselves and make amend where necessary.

Speaking on the celebration, the President, Mother’s Union, Women’s Guild and Girls Guild, Province of the Niger and Diocese of Awka, Mrs. Martha Ibezim, thanked God for the grace of womanhood in the society which she described as a vocation.

Mrs. Ibezim maintained that though, many things have gone wrong in the present-day society, women still stood their grounds as vitreous women, without engaging in societal ills or acts that are capable of leading them to destruction.

She asked them to maintain the aspect of being a disciplinarian and adapt to the new trend of raising Godly generation where they will open their eyes wide and monitor their wards until they grow.

Mrs. Ibezim also advised women to make prayers the pillar of their homes while they instill morals, fear of God and right attitude into their children.

The Diocesan Women Protocol and Media Coordinator, Dame Chika Osinomumu, stated that the roles of women in nation building cannot be over emphasized.

Special church services will be held across Anglican Churches, where women will play major roles.
