Catholic Diocese of Ekwuluobia yesterday commemorated its 2023 Chrism and Cathedraticum Holy Mass, officiated by His Eminence, Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke.

 

During the pontifical high mass, which took place at Saint Joseph’s Cathedral Ekwuluobia, with the faithful participating in their numbers, all the priests in the diocese renew their vows.

Cardinal Okpalaeke, blessed the Chrism Oil for the sick and Catechumen to be used all through the year.

 

In a homily, Cardinal Okpalaeke, described priesthood as a vocation that requires persistence, steadfastness, humility and prayerful life which will help them to achieve the mandate given to them as priests.

While charging them to intensify their apostolicism towards the elderly by caring and praying for them, Cardinal Okpalaeke appealed to the faithful to support priests with prayers to accomplish their works.

 

Also speaking, the presidential candidate of Labour Party in the just concluded presidential election and a former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, extolled the on-going massive work in the diocese which according to him, is for the growth of the gospel and called for more focus on education and health.

Welcoming the Cardinal and all that gathered for the mass, Mrs. Josephine Nwankwo-Ibe, on behalf of Ekwuluobia Region, commended Cardinal Okpalaeke for the accelerated work in the diocese, pledging their total support and prayers for him.

 

Cardinal Okpalaeke later prayed for the sick, Traditional Heads and government officials while blessing of the Oil and renewal of ordination vows and other side attractions featured at the Chrism Mass.
