Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo has called for promotion of family values and proper upbringing of children.

The Anambra Governor’s wife, who was speaking in Awka, said that failure to inculcate necessary moral and social values in children remains a threat to the social system with fast declining moral rectitude.

Mrs. Soludo noted that most social challenges faced by the present society, including drug addiction, cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, unbridled and illicit quest for money and violent agitations , among others, point to the failure by the society to instill the right ideals in the younger generation.

The governor’s wife, who is also the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA War Against Drug Abuse Ambassador in Anambra State, said she is committed to the war against proliferation of illicit drugs and use, especially among school children, and would continue to engage in social advocacies, and other avenues to create awareness on the dangers of hard drugs and help stem the tide of drug abuse in Anambra State.

Mrs. Soludo said it is time for parents and all stakeholders including schools, political, religious and community leaders, to be more pragmatic in their social duties, while government at all levels should do more to show sincere commitment to tackling growing social challenges .

The governor’s wife further reiterated her earlier call for the parents to always question the source of their children’s wealth, especially when it appears suspicious and questionable, and also called on the general society to preach more about the value of hard work, and desist from giving material wealth undue attention over diligence.
