Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works, has charged the construction firm handling Obodoezi Street in Awka Community with adjoining roads to stick to specifications to avoid execution of shoddy jobs.

The Committee gave the directive when it embarked on oversight visit to the project site for on-the-spot assessment.

House of Assembly Correspondent Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the Committee, which spoke through its chairman, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma, observed that work is in progress on the three-point eight-kilometer road with eight adjoining roads and expressed satisfaction with the quality of jobs done so far.

It observed that a pipe connected to a commercial building in the area discharges faeces into the drainages under construction and ordered the landlord to remove it and re-channel same into the soak away pit meant for the building so that the project would go on unhindered.

On his part, the site engineer, Mr. Adeyinka Amosun, noted that they have completed plumbing network for the six roads, which he said could enable free flow of flood to discharge point.

The Committee also inspected Unizik-Okpuno Road, which is still at earthwork stage.
