The traditional ruler of Nawfia Community, Njikoka Local Government Area, Igwe Daniel Obelle, his wife, Lady Florence and family members accompanied by Nawfia Royal Cabinet, and the people of the town, their friends and well-wishers, last Sunday danced to the altar to give thanks to God for a successful and fruitful one year on the throne.

 

The thanksgiving service at Saint Michaels and all Angels Anglican Church Nawfia, attracted people from all walks of life, including traditional rulers among others as they gathered to celebrate the Nawfia Monarch.

Igwe Obelle, accompanied by his wife, Florence, expressed gratitude to God for guiding his one year on the throne, and narrated his journey as the traditional ruler of the community.

 

He emphasized that he was duly elected and supported by the community to become the traditional ruler and assured that his reign has brought relative peace that has never been witnessed in the history of the community.

 

Igwe Obelle called on the community to keep supporting him to ensure lasting progress, while promising to ensure that his tenure brings development to the community.

Felicitating with the monarch, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu of Umuawulu Community, and his Akili-Ogidi counterpart, Igwe Ikechukwu Nwafili, congratulated him and called for oneness, love and peace in the community.

 

The President General, Nawfia Progressive Union, Mr. Daniel Okoye-Okongwu, described the celebration as unique and remarkable, and called for unalloyed support from community members to the monarch, for progress and development.

 

Earlier in a sermon, the Vicar, Saint Michaels and All Angels’ Church, Nawfia, Venerable Ifeanyi Umeh, who asked community members to support Igwe Obelle with prayer for all round development of the community and urged him to be a model and good shepherd to his subjects.

 

The event was capped with a royal reception at the king’s palace where all the traditional rulers that graced the occasion prayed for Igwe Obelle and the entire community.
