Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Christian Udechukwu as the Commissioner for Industry by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

 

The House confirmed his appointment during yesterday’s plenary after consideration of the report of its Committee on Screening and Election Matters on Mr. Udechukwu presented by the Chairman of the committee, Dr. Paschal Agbodike.

 

according to the Chairman of the committee, Dr. Agbodike who is also the Deputy Speaker of the House, they have screened Mr. Udechukwu and found him suitably qualified to serve Anambra State as the Commissioner for Industry.

 

Thereafter, Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor, the member representing Njikoka Two Constituency, Dr. Pete Ibida and his Anaocha One counterpart, Honourable Ebele Ejiofor provided Mr Udechukwu with an insight on the expectations of the House from him as Commissioner for Industry.

Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Okafor read out the resolution of the House, while the lawmakers supported it through voice vote.

 

Earlier, while answering questions from the House, Mr. Udechukwu explained that he will work with Governor Soludo to deliver his industrialization agenda for Anambra State by strengthening one hundred and sixty-one industries in the state with variety of policy and encourage new industries to grow locally.

Mr. Udechukwu further said that he will use his wealth of experience to bring global enterprises in the world to come into Anambra State and partner Anambra entrepreneurs to grow the economy with a view to delivering a smart mega city for Anambra.

In their contributions, the member representing Nnewi North Constituency, Honourable Nonso Okafor and the member for Njikoka One Constituency, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma urged Governor Soludo to merge the Ministry of Trade and Commerce with the Ministry of Industry so that Mr. Udechukwu will have a big platform to achieve his economic vision for the state.
