The Anambra State Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe has stated that the unwavering commitment to duty and service by the state workforce has played a significant role in positioning Anambra State as one of the most progressive and economically viable states in Nigeria.

 

The Head of Service stated this on the occasion of the 2023 workers’ day celebration held at Dr Alex Ekwueme square in Awka

Barrister Igwegbe, who explained that the annual event is an opportunity to recognize and appreciate workers for their hard work, dedication and contributions towards the growth and development of the state, assured that the state government is committed to improving the welfare and working conditions of all workers in Anambra State, as well as reforming and revamping the state workforce to be the one that actually delivers the transformation agenda of the Soludo administration.

She acknowledged sacrifices workers are making, as well as efforts being put into work, especially during challenging times, adding that workers’ resilience, determination, and positive attitude have kept the state running smoothly, for which the state government is deeply grateful and is committed to ensuring that they receive the support and resources needed to excel in their duties.

On what should be done to ensure more productivity of the state workforce, the state Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, recommended better take-home packages, improved working condition and other incentives, assuring of worker’s commitment to duty for the good of the state.
