Beneficiaries of the “One Youth Two Skills” Programme of the state government have applauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the initiative.

 

The trainees made this known during a routine monitoring and inspection of training centres and development institutes for Batch A, Stream One Pilot Phase, embarked upon by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Aghamba.

The local government areas visited included Awka North, Oyi, Ayamelum, Ogbaru and Anambra East and West as well as Onitsha North and South.

Speaking at the various centres , some of the trainees, including Chinonye Okoye from Umuoba-Anam, Uchenna Nwafor from Nsugbe, Chukwuebuka Nzekwu from Onitsha, Victor Uzo from Atani, Flora Nwabunwanne and Philomena Udoaka among others, said it was their first time of experiencing such empowerment, noting that Governor Soludo has given Anambra Youths a great platform to excel.

They noted that the training has rekindled their hope for a better tomorrow, even as they commended the quality of training at the centres and promised to come out better after the programme .

Some facilitators of the Programme, including Mr. Henry Agunobi, Reverend Azuka Chukwuanu, Mr. Chike Egbuna, Dr Peter Okafor and Sir Francis Oranwuba, informed the Commissioner that the trainees are making appreciable efforts in their areas of interest and also commended Governor Soludo’s Administration for using the initiative to reduce youth restiveness.

On his part, the Transition Committee chairman for Ogbaru Council Area, Mr. Pascal Aniegbuna, commended the youth-friendly administration of Professor Soludo, and urged the youths to strive towards having at least two skills to help them achieve great goals in life.

 

In his remark, Commissioner Aghamba, explained that the ongoing inspection was to ensure effective policy and programme implementation, adding that One Youth Two Skills Initiative, is not a settlement project rather a development project to make the youths smart entrepreneurs in order to achieve the vision of making the state livable and prosperous.

He equally explained that the programme comes in five stages which included apprenticeship, entrepreneurship, cooperative, business financing and mentoring, encouraging them to put in their best to become independent.
