Four out of the nine roads, flagged off by Governor Chukwuma Soludo at Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, have been completed while two others are at different stages of completion.
Work is still ongoing on the remaining three roads .
The roads are Eze Mbaji Road, Uzi Road, Ede Road, School Road, Umekwe Road and Umuobom Roads, among others.
They are the first batch of roads flagged off by Governor Soludo at Okpoko.
Taking ABS crew through the roads, the project engineers, Chimarobi Izuako and Kenneth Emmanuel, said they have done over seventy percent of work needed on the roads and drainages, expressing optimism that work will be completed on the site in July 2023.
Attesting that work has been going smoothly with encouraging cooperation from members of the community, they however listed rainfall and lack of proper waste disposal by residents of Okpoko as factors that may slow the pace of their work.
Some residents of the area, including Mr. Ugo Okonkwo and Mr. Kalu Okorie said the impact of the roads to the community are very visible, pointing out that they can now access their markets, schools, work places and link up to the major Onitsha/Owerri Express way within a twinkle of an eye.
They said since the construction of the roads, they have noticed appreciable boost in vehicular movement and economic activities in the area which they said gave them a sense of belonging.
They lauded Governor Soludo for his footprints which have sunk deep in Okpoko Soil, praying that God will give him the wisdom to actualize his dreams for Anambra State.
