The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing Construction of Unizik Junction-Okpuno-Isuaniocha Road
Speaking to newsmen at Unizik Junction after the inspection of the road, Engineer Okoma said he came for an on-the-spot assessment to see the progress of work going on and to make sure that the contractor is adhering strictly to the scope of work as stipulated in the contract.
He commended the quality of work on the road even as he charged the contractor to redouble their efforts.
According to Engineer Okoma, the road has a double lane of one-point-eight kilometers and a single lane of four-point-two-two-seven kilometers making it a total of six-point-zero-two-seven kilometers.
Engineer Okoma said that the width of the road is about eighteen-point-four-five meters and would have drainages on both sides , median and walkways.
The Works Commissioner said that Professor Charles Soludo is interested in delivering any work that will stand the test of time which is in line with his mantra of building a livable and prosperous Anambra.
On his part, Engineer Ogbonnaya Eze, Resident Engineer of RB Consultant Firm said that they are doing a thorough supervision of the project in collaboration with the team of Ministry Engineers.
He said that so far, demolition exercise has been carried out with carting away of the rubbles while earthworks and laterite filling is ongoing.
According to him, also in progress is the construction of nine hundred millimeters times eight hundred millimeters reinforcement concrete drains at the roundabout, that is at the intersection between Club Road and Unizik Temp Site.
Engineer Ogbonnaya explained that the challenges they are currently experiencing is rainy season, but said it will not stop them from working.
He equally said that another challenge they are facing is residents filling the newly constructed drain with refuse.
The Project Engineer for Nigercat Construction Company, Engineer Samir Yahya promised to deliver the job on schedule and according to specifications.
