Anambra state Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has asked members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to be more united and committed to collective goals, in order to make the party more relevant.
The Deputy Governor made the call while speaking during a meeting with Awka South APGA stakeholders at Nibo, in Awka South Local Government Area.
Government House Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that Deputy Governor Ibezim who emphasized the need for members of the party to be more committed to collective targets of strengthening the relevance of the party, said that they should learn to embrace peace and unity for the progress of the party.
Dr Ibezim tasked leaders of the party at all levels on quality leadership, reminding them to always be true representatives of what the party stands for.
Speaking, the state Deputy Chairman of APGA, Chief Tony Omeligwe-Elee restated the commitment of the party leadership towards ensuring free and fair election during the upcoming congress of the party, noting that the target of the party’s leadership is to produce competent leaders that will take the party to an enviable height and as well be able to complement the efforts of Professor Chukwuma Soludo who is the leader of the party, towards transforming the state.
On his part, the Chairman of the 2023 APGA Congress Committee, Chief Obi Nwankwo assured that partiality of any kind will not be allowed during the election of the party’s leadership at all levels and asked the ward chairmen and executives to do the needful to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
In various interviews, the Member Representing Awka South Two at the state House of Assembly, Honourable Chukwuma Okoye, and APGA Strategic Stakeholder Awka South Ward One, Chief Emeka Okonkwo described the meeting as timely, noting that APGA is known for peace and unity and expressed confidence that with the way the present leadership of the party is planning the upcoming congress and election, peace will continue to reign and the party will wax stronger.
For other stakeholders, including Chief Chukwuemaka Ojiakor, and Prince Ikechukwu Ndigwe, leadership of the party should be careful in selecting ward chairmen for the party to avoid selection of selfish and incompetent persons, but rather people with impeccable character and ability to move the party forward as according to them, the strength of party lies at ward levels.
