The chairman, Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Barrister Vin Ezeaka, has set up a peace and conflict resolution committee of nonpartisan technocrats to broker peace between the two factions of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE.
The committee, comprised of heads of local government administrations, is looking into the remote and immediate causes of the disagreement within NULGE with a view to finding a lasting peace between the two factions.
Addressing the Committee at the Commission chambers, Barrister Ezeaka, thanked them for their in-depth findings and diligence with the issue and promised to transmit same to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, whom he described as Labour Friendly’ and lover of industrial harmony.
He warned that the Commission shall no longer tolerate splinter groups, who waste precious man-hours jumping from one industrial court to another while the job suffers and at the end of the month still receive salary for job not done.
Similarly, Barrister Ezeaka, also set up a Committee to look into the disparity in wages and allowances between the state civil servants and local government workers with a view to harmonizing same for enhance productivity.
He tasked staff to reciprocate by exhibiting due diligence in the discharge of their duties by rejecting truancy under any guise.
The Chairman further warned those he described as ‘diaspora workers’ to relocate to Anambra State and take their jobs seriously as the on-going Staff Data Biometrics and Physical Capturing Exercise shall fish out both ghost and errant staff in the local government system.
